My Mission & Values

Both my mission and values are deeply interconnected. They are my guiding forces and keep me centered. While all of them aren’t listed here, below are a few that have been deeply involved in who I am today.

Right Relationship

While I acknowledge that I am deeply human and mistakes are inevitable; I am also committed to being in right relationship with the cultures, systems, and people I encounter + learn with.

Curiosity

Curiosity has been one of my favorite guides along my journey. It’s guided me to growth, helped me expand my capacity to engage discomfort, and reminded me not to take myself (or life) too seriously.

Re-membering

There are many conditions and systems that contribute to the harm of our planet, communities, and families. This value is especially sacred to me as it grounds my why. I am deeply motivated by the commitment to being a change agent for myself, my family, and my community.

Where It’s Headed

Although there are afro-indigenous waters in my bloodline, my lived experience has been disconnected from these layers of my heritage. The pain of cultural, biological, and linguistic displacement has inspired me to Mud Work (acknowledging the muddy waters that made me, and creating healthy Clay to mold my life from). Thus far, Mud Work has helped me develop the capacity to engage this particular pain that comes with being “African American” and I look forward to deepening this relationship across mediums. There are many soils that made This Body; it’s my hope that as Black Americans, we can continue deepening in our re-membrance of our unique journey.

Sprouted Seeds

I’m a two-spirited woman with deep roots along the American East Coast. I was born and raised in Philly, PA in the Salafi sect of Islam where I had my first encounters with the more than human realms. At this point, two things became clear: the complex relationship religion has with the non corporeal, and the ways religion has impacted “African Americans”. The first decade of my activations led me on a journey of engaging the thickest layers of my karma; centered by the intention to clean-up, assimilate, and integrate them into wisdom. This period re-membered a core intention I have during this lifetime – aiding in the anchoring of new timelines, transmuting energetic pollution, and beautifying the Earth with my art.

Academically: I studied at Morgan State University and am the First Federally registered Arts2Work Apprentice in the Nation, where I am currently the Community Manager of a thriving network of international filmmakers.

Energetic training: I’m a practitioner of Transformative Energy Work where I studied a formal method of energy work. However, my practice is deeply informed by my soul and the Elementals.
